What an amazing February we’ve had at LFCC! We launched our very first New Members Orientation, which has almost twenty (!) people in it. In addition, we began our process of discerning our church identity through our Visioning/Strategic Planning process. I took over our Adult Sunday School, which has also been fruitful in attendance and content. We were blessed by Kevin Hopkins’ singing and keyboard playing gifts during service. Mabel Simmons offered a wonderful rendition of “It is Well With My Soul”, featuring some talent-less singing partner.
Lastly, we also welcomed a new member, Phyllis Loudermilk, to our family. Welcome Phyllis! What this means is that God is doing wonderful things in our midst. I remain in awe of all that God is doing on 3495 Sugarloaf Parkway and beyond. Our growth – not just numerically, but in programming, in deeper bonds with one another, and in the collective desire to go higher is the fuel that will take this church to heights it has not reached in a long time.
Perhaps my favorite part of February was our brief, but poignant Ash Wednesday services. Daniel, Kim, and I had the mutual desire to offer a powerful start to the Lenten season, in hopes that each of us would spend the next six weeks at the very throne of God. I pray that this Lenten season will be a time of revelation and transformation for each of you. As your Pastor, I am committed to spending the next 40 days with God so that I can continue to lead this body effectively. I pray that your commitment to God during this season will manifest in a deeper faith, and all the blessings it brings!
As always, continue to be in prayer for one another. While we are opening up more, there are many concerns that remain both known and unknown to us. Many of us are still in mourning, or struggling through health challenges, be it our own or someone we love.. Some of us are in need of joy and peace and fresh energy. Though we may out of sight from one another during the week, we shouldn’t be out of mind.
Lift up this ministry to the Lord. Continue your spiritual development so that you can continue to see God move in your life. As always, I am here for you if you need. May God continue to bless each one of you. Love and blessings to you all!
Love, Pastor Richard
