COVID-19 Re-Opening Update

Dear church family,

I would like to begin by thanking you all for hanging in there with us during this turbulent time. Your attendance, prayers, continued financial giving, cards, calls and texts of support have been a tremendous blessing. This is certainly not how I envisioned our first year together, but by God’s grace (and only God’s grace!), we have made it thus far, and our future is bright!

I wanted to update you all regarding LFCC’s conversations regarding re-opening. As you know, Governor Kemp reopened Georgia last month, yet has kept the shelter-in-place recommendations for the senior and vulnerable population until June 12. Some churches are re-opening throughout Georgia this month, for a myriad of reasons. I, along with members of the Leadership Council, have closely watched the news, and have evaluated all the COVID data closely. At our last meeting, held virtually last Sunday, we decided that we will not re-enter the building together until mid-late July at the earliest!

Experts are predicting another COVID spike as a result of many protestors throughout Atlanta not practicing social distancing during the time of demonstration. While Atlanta seems far away, it truly isn’t. Remember, the virus began in China and has stretched around the world. Your safety is our primary concern. I know the date might not be what you want to hear, but we want to be absolutely sure that we can keep you safe. This is not only our role as church family, but this is our duty as servants of the Church. Please continue to pray for us as we discern our immediate future.

When we return, church will be different. Like all other institutions you enter these days, procedures will be put in place to ensure your safety. Though things will be different physically, the spirit will be the same, I promise you. For now, please be in prayer for your church family and all that is going on in the world. Soon, we will reconvene and work towards bringing more of the Kingdom to Lawrenceville. Until then, stay connected through Zoom and through the directory. God’s love and blessings to you all!

Love,
Pastor Richard
