SPECIAL WORSHIP THIS SUNDAY: 5TH SUNDAY SINGING
Join us this Sunday as we continue our celebration of the six Sundays of Easter and the joy of the resurrection with our first 2023 5th Sunday Singing. Let’s lift our voices in praise with congregational hymns, Chancel Choir specials, and several solos/duets. Using the resource Unrevealed Until Its Season, a book by James C. Howell (Senior Pastor at Myers Parks UMC in Charlotte, NC), we will explore some of the best-known and best-loved hymns in our Chalice Hymnal. You won’t want to miss any of these 5th Sunday Singing services. (We will also have 5th Sunday Singing in July and October.) Thanks to Kim Peeples for preparing this meaningful worship service. See you Sunday, in person or online.

APRIL FOCUS ON CARING FOR CREATION
Honoring creation is one way we can honor God. As followers of Christ, we can care for creation by working with others to create healthy and safe communities for our families, leave a thriving world for future generations, and protect God’s natural world. During April, LFCC will focus on ways to care for the natural world around us.
This Sunday, you are also invited to take an Orange Bag from the table in the gathering space. The Hefty Orange Bag program allows you to recycle plastics that are harder to recycle and not usually collected by curbside recycling companies. Here is the link that explains how the program works. You can return your filled orange bag to church, or drop it off at the Gwinnett County drop-off location at Westrock (Gwinnett County): 384 Maltbie Street, Lawrenceville, GA 30046.
Gwinnett Clean and Beautiful provides a link to information about where certain kinds of items can be recycled. If you have things you would like to recycle, but don’t know where to take them, check out the list at https://gwinnettcb.org/recycling/.
“And out of the ground the Lord God made to spring up every tree that is pleasant to the sight and good for food.” ~Genesis 2: 9

CHANGE IN WORSHIP TIME STARTING NEXT SUNDAY!
Beginning Sunday, May 7, our worship start time will move to 11 am. Mark your calendars and be ready for this change that’s coming soon! The new start time will allow more time for choir rehearsal and Sunday school, and will make it easier for visitors to remember what time worship starts. Worship will continue to start at 10:50 am this coming Sunday; the new worship time will begin in May!

WEEKLY CALL TO PRAYER FOR OUR CHURCH
During this time of transition for LFCC, the Pulpit Committee invites all of us to a time of intentional prayer for our congregation. Each Wednesday at 7 pm, you are encouraged to pause for a few minutes to pray for God’s guidance as we search for an interim minister and continue the work of discerning God’s path for our church. You can pray wherever you are, in whatever way feels most comfortable for you. If you are not able to pause and pray Wednesdays at 7 pm, please choose a different time to set aside for intentional prayer for LFCC. We need all of our prayers to guide our church forward.

PULPIT COMMITTEE UPDATE
The Pulpit Committee has been interviewing candidate for interim minister over the past several weeks, and will have a report for the Leadership Council and Board soon. Once we get an interim in place, the committee will begin the process of finding a settled minister. If you have questions or ideas about the search process, please talk to Committee Chair Frank Hawkins, or any of the committee members (Andrew Jensen, Marilyn Parks, Candace Richardson, and Lee Thompson as ex officio member). Please be in prayer for the Pulpit Committee as they do this important work for the congregation.

MARK YOUR CALENDAR: ELDER AND DEACON MEETING
The Elders and Deacons will meet immediately after worship on Sunday, May 21 to follow up on our February planning meeting and March training with Rev. Denise Bell, to look forward into the summer and fall, and to choose a chair for each group. If you are a deacon or elder, please plan to stay after worship for this important meeting. We will conclude no later than 1:15 pm. This meeting will replace the Board meeting scheduled for May 21 at 6 pm; we will conduct any needed Board business at this meeting.
