SERMON PREVIEW: MIRACLES IN MATTHEW’S GOSPEL
This Sunday, we will move into Ordinary Time, that long stretch between Pentecost and Advent. We will take a look at the calling of Matthew the Tax Collector to be Jesus’s disciple, and we will focus on some of Jesus’s miracles, as reported in Matthew’s gospel – including healing the woman who had been hemorrhaging for 12 years and bringing back to life the daughter of the Jewish leader. We’ll spend some time thinking about what those miracles demonstrated about Jesus, and what lessons we can take from them today. You may want to read Matthew 9: 9 – 13 and 18 – 26 in preparation. See you Sunday, in person or online.

CAMP COMMISSIONING THIS SUNDAY
This Sunday , we will take time during worship to commission all those going to Camp Christian this summer from our congregation – campers, counselors, directors, storytellers, and other volunteers. Plan to join us as we send them off to camp with our prayers and best wishes. You are invited to wear a camp shirt if you have one (whether or not you’re going to camp this year).

JUNE FOCUS ON SUMMER FOOD FOR CHILDREN AND FAMILIES
During June, our outreach focus at LFCC will be on providing food for the Lawrenceville Co-op to distribute to children and families. The need for food is greater in the summer, because children who receive breakfast and lunch at school during the year can no longer count on regular meals during the summer. The co-op feeds more than 300 families each week, and relies heavily on donations of food and personal items from churches, individuals, schools, grocery stores, scout troops, and many other organizations.

How can you help? Keep bringing your food donations to church. When you do your grocery shopping, add one or two items to give to the co-op. You can also order items on Amazon to be shipped directly to the co-op (go to https://amzn.to/43lWx3g) or make monetary donations directly to the co-op online at https://lawrencevilleco-op.org/donate/ or by mailing a check payable to Lawrenceville Cooperative Ministry to PO Box 1328, Lawrenceville GA 30046. Thanks for all you do to help feed those in our own church neighborhood who might otherwise go hungry.

“For I was hungry, and you gave Me something to eat; I was thirsty, and you gave Me something to drink” ~ Matthew 25: 35

NOTE OF GRATITUDE

Dear Church Family,

Thank you for your thoughtful expressions of sympathy upon Kris’ passing.
We appreciate your beautiful cards, prayers and comforting words. Thank you for the sumptuous funeral meal provided by the DWF.

With sincere gratitude,
The Jensen Family
WEEKLY CALL TO PRAYER FOR OUR CHURCH
During this time of transition for LFCC, the Pulpit Committee invites all of us to a time of intentional prayer for our congregation. Each Wednesday at 7 pm, you are encouraged to pause for a few minutes to pray for God’s guidance as we continue the work of discerning God’s path for our church. You can pray wherever you are, in whatever way feels most comfortable for you. If you are not able to pause and pray Wednesdays at 7 pm, please choose a different time to set aside for intentional prayer for LFCC. We need all of our prayers to guide our church forward.

CAMP WORK DAYS AND WISH LISTS

Thanks to all those who attended the camp work days to help get the facility ready for summer camps!

Thank you for your generous gifts to support Camp Christian in so many ways. We want to make you aware of some other ways to support camp if you choose to. Please consider these an opportunity for those who wish to support camp, but don’t feel like you have to.

Camp wish list items include unscented Clorox or equivalent; packages of 6-12 rolls of toilet paper (for septic systems); packages of 2-8 rolls of paper towels (storage is limited at camp so both toilet paper and paper towels are easier if they are packaged in smaller quantities). If you purchase any items from this wish list, please bring them to church and give to Marilyn Parks. She will transport all items to camp soon.

Thanks for your support of Camp Christian and the young people whose lives are changed at camp!
