About Us

We are a congregation of the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ). As Disciples, our mission is to be and share the Good News of Jesus Christ from our doorsteps to the ends of the earth. Our worship service is centered around the communion table, where we welcome everyone as God has welcomed us.

Lawrenceville First Christian Church began its journey on July 18, 1909, with worship services held in a tent at Lawrenceville’s historic courthouse square. The church’s first building, located on Perry Street, was dedicated in May 1939 and served the congregation until 1997 when the church moved to its current location on Sugarloaf Parkway. The church is part of the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ), a denomination that emerged in the early 1800s from two movements in Pennsylvania and Kentucky, led by Thomas and Alexander Campbell and Barton W. Stone, seeking Christian unity and rejecting rigid denominationalism. The two movements united in 1832, forming the Disciples of Christ, emphasizing inclusivity and a focus on scripture.
