SUNDAY PREVIEW: LOVE
Sermon Title: The Greatest of These
Scripture: 1 Corinthians 13:1-13
Last week, we learned in Paul’s letter to Corinth about some members of the Corinthian congregation trying to enhance their status based on their spiritual gifts. He likens that church to a body of diverse members, each playing an essential role for the good of the whole. This week, we learn from Paul’s letter that although each member has a unique role in using their gifts, LOVE trumps all other gifts. We are noisy gongs or clanging cymbals. Join us on Sunday as we begin to understand that faith, hope, and love abide; the greatest is LOVE. See you Sunday, in person or online.

SOUPER BOWL SUNDAY
On Sunday, February 9, we will celebrate Souper Bowl Sunday, in preparation for the big football game later that afternoon. The Outreach Team encourages everyone to bring cans of soup to give to our neighbors through the Lawrenceville Co-op. After worship, the Congregational Care and Connect Team invites you to stay for a soup lunch, featuring several kinds of soups, crackers, corn bread, veggie trays, and desserts. We will also celebrate Scout Sunday on Feb. 9, so we are hoping to have several scouts and families join us for lunch.

SWITCHING MINISTRY TEAMS
We have completed a little more than a year with our current ministry teams. If you would like to step back from your current team and/or join a new team, we want to hear from you. We will have a basket with cards in the Gathering Space on Sunday. Just let us know your name and what team you want to join. You’re also welcome to send a message to Rev. Diane or Rev. Teresa with that information. We appreciate everyone’s hard work to make the ministry teams successful, and we want to be sure you’re on a team that matches your interests and abilities.

WEEK OF COMPASSION SPECIAL OFFERING
Week of Compassion is the relief, refugee, and development mission fund of the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ). Week of Compassion works with partners to alleviate suffering across the United States and around the world, often as some of the first responders on the ground when disasters hit.
As we know, massive wildfires have been burning in Southern California, scarring thousands of acres, destroying thousands of homes and structures, and displacing hundreds of thousands of people under evacuation orders. Week of Compassion remains in frequent contact with pastors and regional leaders, responding as needs emerge and joining partners in conversation about the long-term recovery ahead. This disaster is just one of many – including hurricanes, war, and famine – to which Week of Compassion is still responding. Increasingly severe and frequent weather-related and human-caused disasters continue to fragment communities around the world.
The Week of Compassion special offering helps support these important relief efforts. We will collect our 2025 Week of Compassion offering on February 16 and 23. Be sure to designate “Week of Compassion” on your check, envelope, or online gift. The church and the world thank you for your generous gifts to help those in great need.

SILVER TEA SET STILL AVAILABLE
Several years ago, a family gave a silver tea set to the church. We don’t have a use for this tea set at the church. The tea set will be displayed on a table in the gathering space this coming Sunday. If you would like to have it, you are welcome to make a donation to LFCC and take it home!
