SERMON PREVIEW
Scripture: Luke 8: 26 – 39
Sermon Theme: Jesus Heals a Gentile

The gospels of Matthew, Mark, and Luke all tell a story of Jesus healing a man possessed by demons. Jesus had crossed Lake Genessaret (the Sea of Galilee) into non-Jewish territory, and was confronted immediately by a man who was a social outcast because he was possessed by demons. In Luke’s version, Jesus actually talked with the demons, and sent them out of the man and into a herd of swine. But this seemingly simple healing story has a lot more to it – controversy, political protest, and a warning about the dangers of getting what you asked for. We will explore this story and look at some of these different meanings. See you Sunday, in person or online.

SPECIAL SUNDAY SCHOOL PRESENTATION THIS WEEK
This coming Sunday, June 22, the Outreach team has planned a special Sunday school presentation. Lawrenceville Co-op Director Lisa Engberg will join us in the sanctuary at 10 am to talk about the work of the co-op and answer questions. Please plan to join us for this special presentation about an organization that is important to our congregation.

YOU ARE INVITED TO A WEDDING SHOWER
You are invited to help us celebrate the upcoming marriage of Annie Ballew to Gabe Heiderscheit. The shower will be on Sunday, July 20, 12:00-2:00 in the church fellowship hall. Everyone is invited! Annie and Gabe are registered at Amazon.

MARK YOUR CALENDAR: CALLED REGIONAL ASSEMBLY
There will be a special called Regional Assembly on Saturday, July 26 at 1 pm in Maccon. The purpose is to meet the candidate for Regional Minister and to vote on this person. The candidate has been unanimously approved by the Regional Board. Please plan to attend to be a part of this important moment for our region!

SENDING NOTES TO OUR CAMP ATTENDEES
We are lucky enough to have a large group of campers, counselors, directors, keynoters, storytellers, and other supporters attending Camp Christian this summer. You are invited to send notes of encouragement to our campers and camp staff. You will find a list of those going to camp, cards to send good wishes, and envelopes for each camp session in the gathering space. We will send cards for each session to camp with a director or counselor. Next week, we have a big group going to CYF conference.

Director: Libby Ballew
Keynoter: Rev. Richard Williams
Counselors: JT Clements, Rafael Evatt-Machado,  and Rebecca Thompson
Campers: Molly Ballew, Chandler Bays, Makayla Davis, Sophia Coker, Eleanor McElhanon, Keeley Puckett, and Mary Kate Westbrook

Please bring your cards for these campers and staff to worship on Sunday, or take a few minutes to write cards at the church. Thank you for your ongoing support and words of encouragement – our campers and staff really appreciate them!

FUN AT LET’S EAT
A group of 13 gathered at Ted’s Montana Grill on Tuesday for Let’s Eat! The food was tasty and the conversation was enjoyable. Join us for the next Let’s Eat! on Tuesday, July 22. (Note: This is the fourth Tuesday of the month.)

A NOTE OF THANKS
Dear Church Family,
Thank you so much for being a very important and influential part of my life. Each and every one of you mean so much to me. Thank you for my bible, which has already and will continue to be, read and loved. Love y’all lots!

Love,
Molly Ballew

A team gathered last Saturday to begin installing the new Family Promise playground set. After discovering that the installation manual was 200 pages long, they got to work and made some progress. The installation will continue in upcoming weeks. If you can help out, please talk to Rod Baker.
